Its unabashed love for schlock horror violence gives it a gruesomely appealing edge, but, without a story capable of properly framing its often-exciting combat or making good on its premise, it’s a game that shambles more than it sprints across its runtime. "Like the loading screen zombie, floating mid-death through a black background, Dead Island 2 is fully focused on the look of its detailed gore to the exclusion of the other details surrounding it. Although the combat feels responsive and intuitive, it sadly does little to compensate for the game's numerous shortfalls – especially when said gameplay barely evolves throughout the game's twenty hour campaign." - Lewis Parker NME - 3/5 The Dead Island heroes escaped in a helicopter to the safety of a military ship, but when a furious. "Apart from the admittedly impressive technical performance, it's hard to find much reason to recommend Dead Island 2. Dead Island 2 isn't a bad game, but it does feel superfluous, which is a sad thing to conclude about a project that's been in development for almost a decade." - Edwin Evans-Thirlwell PC Gamer - 55/100 If you are neither of those things, all the sturdy design and flying organs in the world can't hide the shortage of lingering excitement here. It's certainly got the zombie disassembly part down pat. "If you've somehow yet to play an undead-themed action-RPG or you have an appropriately on-brand mindless hunger for the subgenre, Dead Island 2 might be worth your while. It’s almost impossible to stop smiling while playing, such are the slapstick laughs of limbs flying off in every direction." - Jordan Middler Eurogamer - Unscored "Dead Island 2 is an extremely silly, comically violent, and consistently enjoyable experience. "Dead Island 2 is a hysterical Los Angeles-infused satire that does most things well enough, but feels like a stroll down the Walk of Fame of celebrated zombie games I’ve already played without adding many new ideas of its own." - Travis Northup VGC - 4/5 The fact that it's arrived in such a state that players can have fun with it for the duration of its story and beyond-even as that story itself is an afterthought-is a testament to the team that got it to a once-unlikely finish line." - Mark Delaney IGN - 7/10 Dead Island needs 5 brand new characters and a locker full of new weapons before dead island 3."For a game in development for more than a decade, it's a minor miracle for Dead Island 2 to come out at all. Its hard to recommend it but if you enjoyed the first its worth playing just don't expect too much. (Quest: Supermarket Journey) After reaching the supermarket cellar, fight your way inside until you reach the first staircase. the problems with on-line connections and random loss of connections still persisting in Riptide. Shoot it to blow the door open and place the skull on the marked wall inside. unlike the original were you had the Hotel area the lab jungle area the boat ride and so on. the areas lack distinction and merge into one. in riptide it does not seem too matter also the island seems to be way smaller than the original and the areas look familiar in places even with the new flooded water levels. The originals story was based around introducing you to each new playable character and even mission givers. There is even less story now as you are only quickly introduced to the new guy after a flashback to the events of dead island. … Expandĭead island riptide i scored this game a 7 due to it keeping its fun factor but really it is no were near as good as the original dead island Dead island riptide i scored this game a 7 due to it keeping its fun factor but really it is no were near as good as the original dead island with one new playable character and not many new weapons you go straight back to using your favorite weapons from dead island 1. Techland, please work on the story for the next game though. I would much rather have a new Dead Island every 2 years than wait 3 to 4 years for a "true sequel" The gameplay is why we like Dead Island. All of Dead Islands issues were not addressed, but when you push out the game in 19 months, you have to cut them some slack. Riptide is a fun game with new ideas and some improvements. People get over it, there are minor changes in God of War Ascension compared to 3, and people are not rating it a 3 or 4. I really enjoyed the gameplay and rpg elements that dead island had to offer, so why should Techland go back to the drawing board. Yes this may not be a direct sequel but it is a continuation of the story and a reason to play more Dead Island. Ok, I understand there is not alot of new features here and the voice acting sucks, but I love Dead Island as well as 5 million other people.
